Nursing at Donnington Health Centre

it was standing knee high in wet grass in 1997, at one of the Andy Fanshawe Memorial Weekends that Sue mentioned she was interested in Practice Nursing, and I was able to offer her a one day a week taster job.  She stayed with us for thirteen memorable years, only leaving when she moved to Sheffield, and becoming in no time our Senior Nurse, sorting everything (and everybody) out in that calm, efficient and happy way of hers that instantly won love and respect. That she was a highly skilled nurse and great with patients goes without saying, but her contribution to the Practice went well beyond: playing major roles in the Awaydays, organising Treaure Hunts (and feeding everybody afterwards) and enlivening some otherwise pretty stuffy social events. Further, she had an uncanny ability to bring on board other nurses who she trained up to be as kind, efficient and skilled as herself. She was hugely missed when she moved away and Donnington’s loss was very definitely Sheffield’s gain.I learnt a lot from working with you Sue. Very many thanks for everything you did and were. Richard
